If you’re a fan of supernatural fiction then you will be captivated by this true story about a spiritually sensitive girl and the path that led to her possession. Part one of a two-part series, Saving Mary is the story of a modern-day Mary Magdalene—the woman from whom Jesus cast out seven demons.

Deidre Daily is drawn to anything seemingly spiritual, desperately seeking a spiritual existence. But inside this vibrant girl hides a terrified child who sincerely believes she has married the devil. Through a series of spiritual encounters her fear turns into reality, and she ends up possessed.

Deidre’s fascinating spiritual memoir relays her story from childhood to adolescence: invisible eyes leering at her from the corner of her bedroom, horrible nightmares tormenting her, and her desperate attempt to find God—only to end up possessed. It is a candid account of possession from a first-person perspective. This dark memoir brings to light an intricate world of deceitful spirits hell-bent on manipulating and damaging an innocent girl’s life, not only through her dreams, but also through seemingly every-day encounters.

Travel with Deidre into the mysterious world of spirits, ghosts and demons. Awaken yourself to a world that isn’t supposed to exist; a world that’s as intriguing as it is sinister. And then emerge as a new person—invigorated, aware and intent on living in the light. Saving Mary; Not just another story about a girl and her exorcist.

I wanted to write a book about my personal spiritual journey towards healing. I wanted to write about how my healing then helped my family to heal. The first draft manuscript was called “Healing a Family.” But as I wrote, it became apparent that I was going to take people down a dark road, that I wouldn’t tell them I was healed; instead, I would show them how I got hurt and then I would show them how I had gotten healed. (Essentially there were two books.) I went back to school for a year to learn how to write; I also took writing classes from other authors; I read all kinds of books and I studied writing constantly. My daughter was born the year I started writing the manuscript.

The first draft of my spiritual journey was finished in about five years. I changed my name in the book and re-titled it as The Unfortunate Karma of Breone Baine. I then sold it a year later to a publishing house. Unfortunately, I was never comfortable with working with this particular house as they wanted to release the book as a fictional novel and I wanted it to be released as a memoir. We parted so I could rework the material as memoir. (The manuscript was with this house for two years up to this point.) Part of reworking the material meant becoming comfortable with putting me into the book—really letting myself speak and feel. I changed my name from Breone back to Deidre and began getting comfortable with talking about being possessed.

I then let the book sit in a drawer for a staggering five years all while I worked on other projects. When I started blogging in 2011 it occurred to me that my little memoir would be perfect for the ebook market. I pulled it out, changed the title (yet again), found a great editor and in a few months my story of possession was for sale. My daughter was fourteen years old when it went up for sale! I found out just this week that Saving Mary: The Possession is a finalist in the Global Ebook Awards. I still have part two Saving Mary: The Deliverance to finish. I will spend my summer preparing the manuscript for the ebook market. I can’t wait to show people how I was healed!

Deidre – I truly believe in spirits, ghosts and possessions. I understand where you came from because I’ve had my own experiences when I was a child. My mother never believed me and told me I had a vivid imagination. To this day, I won’t discuss my experiences with the dead – unless it’s around my spouse – because of being labeled ‘crazy.’ Thanks for being brave enough to discuss your experiences. This is a book I feel I must read.

S.A. You are not crazy. You were born to parents who didn’t understand your ability. I too, since I was a child, have seen spirits, and I soooo related to Deidre’s book. My children also have the ability to see spirits, and I encourage them to talk about it, so as to keep them safe. Talking about it is the best way to educate others and allow yourself a cathartic release.

      Blessings!!
