Author Jill Monroe

Jill Monroe:I credit my interest in writing romance to my grandmother. She gave me my first Harlequin to read during the hot summer days I spent on my grandparent’s acreage in rural Oklahoma.

Immediately I was hooked!!!

Over the years, I would pick up a pen and write down ideas, but it wasn’t until I joined Romance Writers of America and then Oklahoma Romance Writers did I become serious. During that time, I completed eight novels.

The first two will never, ever see the light of day. In fact, I should probably destroy these so no one accidentally reads them! Around my third book, I joined a critique group and began to really study the craft of writing.

From there I entered entered several writing contests. In March 2003, one part of my writing dreams came true when I finaled in the Golden Heart.

In late 2000, I learned I placed Honorable Mention in Harlequin’s Blaze contest, and began corresponding with the editor who bought my first book. I also won a writing round robin on eHarlequin, which was loads of fun!

On December 18, 2003, I got “The Call” from Harlequin. Actually, my answering machine received the privilege. My seventh novel, Never Naughty Enough was published as a Harlequin

Here I am with the two most influential women in my life. My grandma who shared her love of reading about love, and my mom, who above everything else insisted I learn to type. She is not responsible for any typos or grammatical mistakes. She taught me better – she really did

Temptation Heat.

I make my home in Oklahoma (where many of my books are set) with my husband and two children. My hobbies include reading, water aerobics with my mother every morning and watching OU play ball. I also had to learn all about NBA basketball when the Thunder moved to OKC! The least domestic thing I like to do is cook, but I’m trying.

I met my then future husband as a freshman at the University of Oklahoma (Go Sooners!!), but we didn’t marry until after I received my Master’s from Missouri State (Yea Bears!). My husband hero often worked overtime so I could attend RWA’s National Conferences. The most romantic thing he ever did was arrange for his parents to watch our children so he could drive me to Houston, Texas for the Emily Awards

My Review:
Okay. Soooo…..wow. I’ve recently become absolutely addicted to paranormal romances. There’s just something about a sexy man who shifts, or a vampire with a fangtastic smile. When I was given the opportunity to review this “magazine”, I was on board in a heart beat! I was glad too!

This is a magazine like no other. You get the incredible adds like a regular mag, but this one has things like Goreal make-up(in opposed to LOREAL), and Coffin Klein (you know….KALVIN Klein???). It’s filled with information on vacation ideas for taking your undead lover to an incredible getaway.

There’s absolutely GORGEOUS photos of undead men that you can have a major DROOL fest over ( I know I did!).

The idea that these two incredible paranormal authors came up with was BRILLIANT! There is a mag out there for EVERYONE….quilting, cars, cycles, wrestling, Playboy, People, Penthouse, Scrapbooking…..you name it’s there. But, what about us paranormal-holics? We’re always left out. Not anymore! This is a magazine that MUST be put on your bookshelf and it MUST stay there for those rainy nights when you want to feel close to that awesome zombie, or that howling wolf you love so much. (Note: this is not a subscription…it’s a mock of a magazine and an incredible one that I am SO glad to support! I truly hope that these fabulous ladies turn this into a subscription magazine!). Definitely a 5 Book Worthy

Bambi Simmons is the perfect woman. She is tall, slender and blonde with everything going for her.

But she also has a very dark secret that only a few unfortunate people have learned. When an officer comes too close to the truth, she totally has to take care of business.

Embark on a different sort of vampire tale in this dark comedy by Joel M. Andre that features his beloved detective Lauren Bruni.

Author Joel M. Andre

About The Author:
Joel M. Andre was born January 13, 1981. At a young age he was fascinated with the written word. It was at fourteen that Poe blew his mind, and Andre began to dabble with darker poetry.

Between the years of 1999 and 2007 Joel was featured in various poetry anthologies and publications. In 2008 he released his first collection,Pray the Rain Never Ends.

Knowing there was something deeper and darker inside of his soul, Joel decided to take a stab at commercialism. Releasing the dark tongue in cheek, A Death at the North Pole, created a dark world among the death of Kris Kringle. Ultimately providing a tale of redemption.
October of 2008 saw Joel release his second book, Kill 4 Me. A tale in which a woman is haunted by a vengeful spirit through text messages and instant messaging.

Taking some time off and doing a lot of soul searching, Joel took things in a new direction and dabbled in the Fantasy Genre with, The Pentacle of Light. The tale dealing with five major races battling for control of Earth, and the acceptance of their God.
Finally, after missing his detective Lauren Bruni, he released the book The Return in October 2009, this time moving the action from the North Pole and placing it in the small Arizona community he was raised in.
Andre’s latest book is The Black Chronicles: Cry of the Fallen about a dead man who seeks revenge on the woman that tormented him in peaceful Northern Arizona.

Currently, he resides in Chandler, AZ.

My Review:
Bambi (and Joel!) are back in this short story…as a follow up to Cupid’s Curse. This one really packs it all in in a short amount of pages. It’s got the Andre trade mark laughs, the dark, dark  humor, the horrifying grips and Lauren Bruni! YAY! I was so happy to see my favorite detective in this story. In case you don’t know, Lauren Bruni is a fun character from Andre’s full length books A Death At The North Pole and The Black Chronicles: Cry Of The Fallen.

This short story tells us of Bambi and her secret. You know. The one where she’s a vampire. Yep. We follow her and her secret in this one, and when Detective Bruni realizes what lies beneath Bambi…well, Bambi just can’t have that, can she? Bambi has to do something about it. And that’s where the humor flows!

I loved this! Once again, Joel gets a top of the charts hit in my book. Definitely worthy of 5 Books and more, this is a fabulous follow up book. You get to see Bambi again, and if you’re already an Andre fan, Lauren Bruni will work her way to your heart again! Grab up a copy now and see what I’m talking about. Don’t worry, it won’t take hours to read. It will be a great distraction for the annoying car pool line! Or the bathroom. Or the doctor’s office. Or where ever you might happen to have a chance to squeeze in a short story. It will be worth it!!!!

Once a generation, the rift between the paranormal world and the human world opens, allowing supernatural entities to cross. Vampire, demon, or shapeshifter, they can save the world-or send it spiraling into chaos. Half-demon, half-human, Nix de la Fuente is accepted by neither and mistrusted by both. Determined to prove she’s more human than not, she devotes herself to solving crimes between the world’s mortals and its most unsavory undead. But her latest case brings her face to face with the one vampire she could never resist . . .

Called in to investigate a string of violent murders, special agent Tobias Caine isn’t interested in rekindling his relationship with Nix. Yet one look and the vampire knows his need for her is as strong as ever. Once, their all-consuming passion nearly cost Nix her fragile hold on her humanity. Now, as their hunger for one another intensifies, exposing them to an unimaginable danger, it could cost them both their lives.

Author Cynthia Garner

About The Author:
CCynthia Garner discovered her love for making up stories at the age of twelve when her teacher told her to write a story that started “It was a dark and stormy night…” But she didn’t think about making it a profession until 2005, when she began entering—and winning—writing contests. Under her alternate ego Sherrill Quinn she has three Kensington Brava paranormal romance books and a novella as part of the Belong to the Night anthology, as well as several erotic romance novellas published electronically with Ellora’s Cave and Amber Heat. Her writing has been consistently rated with 4 and 5 stars and called “thrilling”, “imaginative” and “fresh.”

When she’s not working her day job, you’ll find her at her laptop writing. Or watching too much TV.

My Review:
This was a fabulous story! Cynthia Garner is a new to me author and I’ll definitely be checking out more of her work in the future! Her writing style is highly unique and she instantly captivated me with her preternatural world. She takes the paranormal realm and twists is up with vampires, shifters, demons and other beings being from another planet, crossing over the “rift” and stealing the bodies to live among us. Definitely a new twist for this reader!

Nix de la Fuente is a demon-human who is helping to solve the many crimes arising from the humans and supernaturals. Only one person she knows, knows of her demon-human life, and that’s her close friend and partner Dante. Together they are working to solve the unrelenting crimes of the world. But, when a vampire friend is murdered, her world turns upside down. There’s a new vampire in town. And it’s not who she expected.

Tobias Caine is the newest vampire investigator on the scene of his murdered friend and he comes face to face with the one person he never expected to see again: his ex, Nix. Seeing her again brings back all the emotions he thought he could get over. Turns out, he was wrong. But, there’s a murderer on the loose and he has to find out who’s behind it before it’s too late to tell Nix the truth.

This is an excellent new paranormal romantic suspense novel that’s overflowing with amazing characters and a plot line that will make your head spin! I loved the complexity of the issues at hand in the preternatural world, and passion that sparks between old lovers is absolutely fantabulous! This is a 5 Book worthy and beyond start to yet another wonderful paranormal series that will be high on my recommendations list! I absolutely can’t WAIT to Dante’s story in Secret Of The Wolf!!! It will be on the top of my wishlist, for sure!
