Is it love, or just a little harmless sex?
Max has always been Anna’s knight in shining armor. But Max has always seen her as a charming, and very sexy, little sister.
Until Max’s cold fiance dumps him, Anna unloads another of her many conquests and she invites him over for margaritas and Mexican food. Too much tequila, too much flirting, and too many years of fighting the attraction — Max loses control and has mind-blowing sex with Anna on her couch. And in her shower. And in her bed. When the sun rises the next morning, both of them must face that their night together is just the first of many.
For Max, he knows he wants Anna forever, but convincing a commitment-phobe like Anna is no easy task. For Anna, she can’t believe she has finally slipped beneath Max’s steely self-control. He is every woman’s dark, wet fantasy come true.
But what happens when Max pushes Anna for more than just A Little Harmless Sex?
WARNING: The following book contains: explicit sex, graphic terms for body parts, torture via silk stockings, a little spanking, and shower and office sex.
About The Author:
Born to an Air Force family at an Army hospital, Melissa has always been a little bit screwy. She was further warped by her years of watching Monty Python and her strange family. Her love of romance novels developed after accidentally picking up a Linda Howard book. From then on, she was hooked. She read close to 300 novels in one year and decided romance was her true calling instead of the literary short stories and suspense stories she had been writing. After many attempts, she realized that romantic comedy, or at least romance with a comedic edge, was where she was destined to be.
Influences in her writing come from Nora Roberts, Jenny Crusie, Susan Andersen, Amanda Quick, Jayne Anne Krentz, Julia Quinn, Christina Dodd, and Lori Foster. Since her first release in 2004, Melissa has written close to thirty short stories, novellas and novels released with seven different publishers in a variety of genres and time periods. Those releases included a 2005 Eppie Finalist, Two Capa finalists, and an International ebook best seller in June of 2005.
Since she was a military brat, she vowed never to marry military. Alas, fate always has her way with mortals. Her husband is an Air Force major, and together they have their own military brats, two girls, and an adopted dog-daughter. They live wherever the military sticks them, which, she is sure, will always involve heat and bugs only seen on the Animal Discovery Channel. In her spare time, she reads, complains about bugs, travels, cooks, reads some more, watches her DVD collections of Arrested Development and Seinfeld, and tries to convince her family that she truly is a delicate genius. She has yet to achieve her last goal.
She has always believed that romance and humor go hand in hand. Love can conquer all and as Mark Twain said, “Against the assault of laughter, nothing can stand.” Combining the two, she hopes she gives her readers a thrilling love story, filled with chuckles along the way, and a happily ever after.
I could start my review off by telling how much Melissa Schroeder is like this fabulous author or that fantastic author, but I won’t. I will tell you that her style is completely unique. My friend Michelle from Romance In Review sang Ms. Schroeder’s praises for the longest time, telling me how addictive they were. Finally, when I had some reading time that wasn’t for blog tour books, she loaned me the first three books, which includes A Little Harmless Sex. When I started reading it, Lord help me, I couldn’t stop. Ms. Schroeder’s first installment in the Harmless series had me hooked with a capital H. Oh my God, you don’t even know! Sure there’s hot sizzling scenes, but it’s more than that. It’s about letting go, accepting fate and embracing the here and now, not the past.
Anna DeWinter is a great character! I really connected on a high level with her. She’s witty and beautiful but a high school incident left her weary of men. Never keeping one for more than a month at a time, including the one she just dumped. The only constant man in her life Max-the one man she can count on to listen to her and be there for her, no matter what. They laugh together, they hang together, they’re just cool together. But, that’s all it can ever be….right?
Maxwell Thurston Chandler. Oh.My.Friggin’. God. Amazing! Pure alpha male, he should feel disappointment when his fiance, Cynthia, dumps him. But, he doesn’t. His first thought through his mind is about telling the news to his life long best friend, Anna. He’s determined to keep her that way, too. Until she invites him over that night for a celebratory break up party……filled with alcohol. Bad combination….right? Can he keep a night of harmless sex between best friend just that? Or will he realize that one night with Anna will never be enough; that it’s more than just sex to him?
Watching Anna and Max had me laughing at times, and at others, I wanted to shake them both and say ‘come on already’! The passion between them, seeing them both want to be in control in the bedroom and the relationship, reallykept things hopping! It was awesomely addictive! When Anna’s ex boyfriend from high school, Freddy also known as Fred, enters the picture….I was perturbed…..until Max…well, read it and find out for yourself!
Can you tell I think this is beyond 5 Book worthy? If you can’t tell, you should. It’s incredible. It’s another new favorite series for me. I have new book boyfriend (*sigh* Max is hot!) in a completely un-put-down-able book. Romantic comedy with sexy spice, it’s like Pringles-once you pop(open the book!) you can’t stop! Fan-friggin-tastic! I can’t wait to read book 2, A Little Harmless Pleasure-Chris (Max’s best friend!) and Cynthia (Max’s ex-fiance!)’s story.
