To protect her sister, Juliette Lawson stole documents and fled west. Now Wes Westmoreland, undercover lawman, threatens both her plan and her heart.

Socialite Juliette Lawson fled west from Philadelphia on a train and in disguise. In Colorado she’d be safe; she’d take work with her uncle at the Rio d’Oro, his smelting operation. Her actions back east had been wrong, but to protect her pregnant sister from scandal she would have done anything. Then she met a man as hungry for answers as she was for independence. A handsome, honorable man. For him, she wished the truth was hers to tell.

From the first, Wes Westmoreland knew he couldn’t trust her. Having grown up in the saloons and brothels of San Francisco, he saw trust, like love, as a luxury an undercover lawman couldn’t afford. Not on a job like this one, not with gold involved. This woman dressed as a widow was clearly hiding something; he’d felt it the moment they touched. But he’d felt other things too, stirrings in his heart, and for the first time ever, he saw riches worth the peril.

April Williamson’s heart calls her across the frontier, but only one man—a handsome army scout with a tormented past—can get her safely to freedom.

Daniel McKenzie was an army scout—quiet, capable, handsome…and utterly unwilling to be the trail guide April Williamson needed to reach Kentucky. The Indian attack at Blue Licks was but one bitter taste of the American frontier, a massacre that had taken her father just as cholera had taken her mother. But April would not give up on her dream. At journey’s end was independence, and nothing would stand in her way.

The young widow was beautiful and determined, but the months of travel involved in her plan would be too hard. Without the general’s order Dan would have told any woman no, but April especially. His secret would destroy her—or she might destroy him. April’s kiss was like the country itself. Restless and sweet, it promised a love that denied every boundary and looked only to freedom and the future.

About The Author:
Terry Irene Blain was lucky enough to grow up in a large Mid-western family with a rich oral tradition. As a child she heard stories of ancestors’ adventures with Indians, wildlife, weather and frontier life in general, so she naturally gravitated to the study of history and completed a BA and MA then taught the subject at the college level. Married to a sailor, now retired, she’s had the chance to live in various parts of the U.S. and has traveled to Hong Kong, Australia, England and Scotland.

“My degrees and my teaching experience make me a natural to write historical romance. Writing historical romance gives me the opportunity to pass on stories of who we are and where we come from while exploring the relationship between men and women. What could be more exciting than that?”

My Review:
Ms. Blain is a truly talented author that steals your breath….and your heart. From start to finish of both of these novels, you don’t know what to expect with each page turn, but what you get is a true delight. These stories are filled with humor, romance and friendships that are forged during troubled times. With vivid attention to detail, Ms. Blain casts her readers stories that are worthy of so much more than just a simple praise.<

Colorado Silver, Colorado Gold was a wonderful delight! I loved reading Juliette and Wes’ story. Both of these characters suffered an inner turmoil beyond words, but they pushed them selves….and each other……..until they were able to accept their fates. Julie’s character was one that was both brave and cowardly. She was determined to protect her sister at all cost and flees her home…taking with her secrets that are best left buried.

Wes is a lawman out to find answers. What he finds instead is a beautiful woman that’s hiding secrets. All he wants is to find out the truth that he seeks….and win her heart. These two had a powerful connection and they didn’t acknowledge it for too long! They were perfect together and when they finally gave into their hearts…well, the sparks definitely fly!

I absolutely adored Kentucky Green! April and Dan are both beautifully created and complex, yet believable. Sweet April just wants to move back home to Kentucky. Her father was killed years ago by Indians, her mother died, and she married her stepfather’s much older brother who also passed away. Left widowed at 20 years of age, she tries to gain passage with a wagon train that will end up back in Kentucky. When she learns that the handsome young Frontiersman is a half-breed Indian…the very same roots that killed her father when she was a child…..well, she can’t help but feel hesitant toward him. But, her heart has other ideas.

Dan is a half-breed Indian who doesn’t want the added complications of taking on a passenger….especially the beautiful young widow. But, at the request of high authority, he must. What he wasn’t looking forward to was the look of disgust in her eyes when she learns about his half-breed roots. Or for the way his heart feels every time he sets his eyes on her.

These books are amazingly written and filled with rich historical detail. Ms. Blain added in twists of suspense through out both, never leaving the reader wanting. Each page turn brought something new and the passionate sparks between the characters really flew sky high! I highly recommend these books with 5 Books and two thumbs up to anyone who loves well written romantic historical novels. I’m looking forward to seeing more of Ms. Blain’s work in the future!
