Judy Vitek is an amazing author! I absolutely just fell in love with her novel and I am already dying for more. I loved every second of reading this book from the first chapter to the last. It’s instant suspense, then moves on to confusion, hurt, betrayal, then on to learning to trust again and love. The characters she chiseled are absolutely awesome! Each one was perfect for their role and really worked their way into my heart.
Maggie Carlisle. Now that’s a character I both loved and hated. I loved her because I could sympathize with the way she was feeling. Hurt, betrayed, scarred both emotionally and physically, and trying to live a new, better life. I wanted to reach out and tell her that everything would be okay. I hated her because, duh! Good guy in front of her and all she did was, well, I don’t want to giveaway too much of the story so I’ll just say that she was a bit confused and I really wanted to pop her upside the head a time or two and tell her to wake up and see the sexiness! But, seriously. I absolutely adored the way Ms. Vitek created Maggie…..she’s very complex and emotionally and physically scarred, making the reader totally sympathize with her. Watching her come to terms with her past and move forward, truly moves the readers heart and soul.
Trent Randall. Yummy with a capital ‘Y’. Oh yea! That cowboy right there is one of every woman’s dreams! He was charming, sexy (just look at the swoon worthy cover….!), and totally, adorably attracted to Maggie, despite her flaws of the past. I loved the way he treated Maggie and tried reaching out to her. Again, I won’t give away too much of the story, but I will say that if I ever met a real life Trent, well, I’d grabbed him up in a heart beat!
The secondary characters, like Maggie’s ex husband, her friend Chloe and Chad and a mystery man named Kevin who knows Maggie but Maggie can’t seem to remember him, really balance out the story perfectly. Kevin’s character adds the mystery to story, keeping the reader guessing until the last chapter. By the end of the story, the reader is so ready for more of Ms. Vitek’s work!
With steamy passion, intriguing suspense, and heart-tugging characters, Ms. Vitek’s Florida Heat is the perfect get-away-from-daily-routine novel. The reader becomes instantly captivated, never wanting to put the book down (or at least, I didn’t!). Each page turn of this 5 Book worthy novel brings the reader somewhere new, giving them something new to ponder on. I’m truly happy I had the chance to read Ms. Vitek’s debut novel and am ready to ask her when she’s giving her new fans more?! Bring it on, Ms. Vitek!:-)
