Shady Grove-where everyone knows your secrets

Once, Neil Pettit was the only thing Maddie Montesano wanted. She tried every trick in the book to keep him, but no luck. It took some time-and a lot of holding her head up while the town gossiped-but she’s made a good life for herself and her daughter.

Now, Neil’s back and is trying to be the father he never was. Maddie so doesn’t need this kind of disruption. Not when the crazy attraction she’s spent years ignoring still sizzles between them. The temptation to give in and have Neil again is strong. And when he offers that dream of forever she’d abandoned, well, she might give this town something new to talk about….

My Thoughts

Talk of the Town was a hard book to read, but entertaining nonetheless. Maddie and Neil had been through so much together yet their past seemed to eat at them…Maddie in particular.

Neil left his daughter and Maddie alone to worry about his own life while Maddie worked hard to raise their child. Both parties were at fault here, but for some reason, I felt more for Neil than Maddie. He owned up to his mistakes while Maddie always sounded like she’d never made them.

It took watching their daughter in pain for them to come together. The two parents had chemistry, that was never lacking, but once they started talking to one another, they started to see how life could work. I loved how Neil stood up to his parents about his daughter too. I think that just shows that he was more of a caring parent than people thought he’d be.

Talk of the Town is a book that shows us what happens after bonds are frayed, but not broken. If you’re into second chances stories, then this one is for you.

ARC Review: Strictly Business by Linda Cajio

Pub Date: Feb 11th, 2013

Description

Beloved romance author Linda Cajio delivers a sinfully sexy tale about the sparks that ignite when a business proposition takes a steamy turn.

Jess Brannen adores practical jokes, which is why she and her friends plan a raucous bachelorette party at a male strip club in Atlantic City for an unsuspecting bride-to-be. But the next morning, the joke is on Jess: She wakes up next to Nick Mikaris, the renowned architect who she had hoped would hire her landscaping company. An intense night of passion is not the sort of pitch meeting she had in mind.

Nick Mikaris isn’t one to mix business with pleasure, but he’s willing to make an exception in Jess’s case. Nick is tempted by Jess’s work proposal—and by the captivating woman herself. Touching Jess is delicious and addictive, but she seems determined to ignore the undeniable attraction between them. Now Nick, ever the practical architect, must convince Jess that they have what it takes to design a long and lasting life together.

My Thoughts

Strictly Business is a cute read with characters who seem to fight in order to find that spark—something I like.

Jess and Nick had their first meeting outside the business room doors when they weren’t supposed to and that’s how hot things can be. I loved the way they fought their attraction, even after everything that happened. Nick and Jess were perfect for each other, despite when they didn’t want it to happen.

Overall I found this story cute, sweet, fun, and something that could make me want to read more. If you’re in the mood for something  that’s a page turner because of the chemistry, then this is for you.

Ten years after Blayne Thorpe first encountered Bo Novikov, she still can’t get the smooth-talking shifter out of her head. Now he’s shadowing her in New York-all seven-plus feet of him-determined to protect her from stalkers who want to use her in shifter dogfights. Even if he has to drag her off to an isolated Maine town where the only neighbors are other bears almost as crazy as he is…

Let sleeping dogs lie. Bo knows it’s good advice, but he can’t leave Blayne be. Blame it on her sweet sexiness — or his hunch that there’s more to this little wolfdog than meets the eye. Blayne has depths he hasn’t yet begun to fathom — much as he’d like to. She may insist Bo’s nothing but a pain in her delectable behind, but polar bears have patience in spades. Soon she’ll realize how good they can be together. And when she does, animal instinct tells him it’ll be worth the wait…

Spindle Cove, nestled in a peaceful corner of Regency Era England, has long been known as “Spinster Cove,” due to its preponderance of unwed ladies of “delicate constitutions”–and that’s the fictional setting for a delightful historical romance series by Tessa Dare.
