Description

She thought her fiancé was the perfect man—until he turned out to be the perfect killer…

Katherine Cole is running for her life, desperate to escape the Valentine Killer—so-called because he stabs his victims through the heart and leaves them holding a telltale single red rose. Still he tracks her to New Orleans and begins carving a bloody path to her door. But this time, Katherine refuses to run any farther. This time, she’ll do anything to stop the madman she once loved, even trust the sexy cop promising to keep her safe…

Detective Dane Black never lets his emotions interfere with his job, even as the Valentine Killer surfaces in New Orleans to stalk his prey. But when Dane agrees to protect the killer’s ex-fiancé, Katherine Cole, he can’t ignore the passion kindling between them. After a single unforgettable night binds them body and soul, Dane knows he won’t rest until Katherine is safe in his arms—and the Valentine Killer is dead. Dark and intensely sexy, this romantic suspense novel from USA Today bestselling author Cynthia Eden is sure to leave readers breathless.

My Thoughts:

Cynthia Eden has a winner here with Die for Me. This is a thrilling novel that will leave you on the edge of your seat and checking dark corners to make sure you’re truly alone. I highly recommend you NOT read this before bed or you’ll be having terrors for sure—but only the best kind. J

Katherine—not Kat—Cole has been running for her life since she found the identity of the Valentine Killer—someone close to her. Just when she’s finally able to breathe, it looks like the killer is back and is closer than ever. Dane is the detective in charge and when Katherine comes to him in order to help, sparks fly and the tension rises.

Throughout the novel we meet some secondary characters that just lifted off the pages. Even though we didn’t get to get a clear view of them beyond their duty, they were real people, real agents, and real officers. With each kill, tease, and clue, we get to know the killer a bit more, something that is chilling beyond reality.

The romance in this book wasn’t the main event and I like that. Yes, Katherine and Dane fell into each other’s arms during a moment in their lives that was rife with danger, but they learned more about each other as their short time together moved on. I would have loved to know more about them and see their romance bloom, but this wasn’t a pure romance book and I took in everything I could.

One thing that really drew me was the way Cynthia Eden showed off the charismatic serial killer. There’s a part where you almost feel for him like he’s the victim. Like he’s something more than a killer. That’s someone you miss by watching it on TV or reading other books. Eden made you understand how someone could love a killer before they knew what the man was capable of. It scared me to think that I could see that, but Eden showed us what it meant to know a killer—superb job.

Die for Me is a thrilling romantic suspense that takes its twists and turns to a level that leaves me in chills. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves romantic suspense and the ability to see just what happens when you fall in love with a killer.

I received an ARC of this novel via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
